Redefining Job Referrals for Candidates

The Challenge
Referrals can make or break job applications, yet asking for one feels awkward, unstructured, and intimidating. Job seekers often hesitate, while referrers face incomplete or vague requests.
The Goal
Create a streamlined, stress-free platform where referrals are no longer a hurdle but an opportunity.
Digging Deep into the Problem
To understand the root of the problem, I talked to those on both ends: job seekers and referrers.
Interviews: Conducted with 10 job seekers and 5 industry professionals.
Key Insights:
Mismatch in Job Titles and Descriptions: Titles often don’t reflect the actual role, creating confusion.
Uncertainty About Profile Fit: Candidates struggle to determine if their skills align with job requirements.
Lack of Communication: Companies rarely follow up or provide feedback, leaving applicants in the dark.
Time-Consuming Application Processes: Applying online is tedious and often feels like a black hole.
Rethinking the Referral Experience
With these challenges in mind, I set out to design a solution that bridges the gap between candidates and professionals, while making the entire process more transparent and efficient.
User Personas
To guide the design, I created two primary personas based on real user insights:

Low Fidelity Wireframes
Low Fidelity Wireframes
Medium Fidelity Wireframes

High Fidelity Mockups
